With summer fast approaching the heat is rising in North Georgia and it's already hot! Normally it's not this hot until mid June. I think we are in for a hotter than summer than the last few. I have a feeling I will be outside chasing chickens with the mister and seeing our Great Pyrenees laying in front of fans all summer long. I'm bracing myself for the heat and am ready to keep all the animals cool and happy.
Do you have any techniques you use to cool off your animals? I make frozen treats for the dogs and chickens and freeze fruit for the chickens and ducks. They especially love frozen bananas. The chickens enjoy frozen corn kernels and they all, even the dogs, like frozen yogurt with corn and peas mixed inside. The ducks really love frozen peas! Frozen water with fresh mint and other greens are a good treat on a hot day for the chickens. I put a box fan in the animal house to circulate the air to try and keep it cool and I hope that Don Quigoatie doesn't hog all the fan air from all the other animals!
Share your summer tips on how to battle the heat with your animals and lets all try to get through the heat and play it cool!
